Pet Parasite Prevention in Ames

Who wants to worry about parasites?

There are lots of creepy, crawly critters interested in your four-legged family member - even indoor pets are prone to fleas, ticks, heartworm and more.

We see thousands of pets in this practice every year and their owners unanimously agree; no one wants a home full of parasites.

Even 1 is too many.

Our clients have also told us that they don't like putting messy, oily drops on their pets, and often forget to give heartworm meds when they should.

We help protect your pet from fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites with an effective ongoing treatment plan.

Our preventative solutions will keep your pet healthy (and bug-free) all year long.

When you bring your pet in for its annual wellness visit, he or she will be screened for parasites causing harm for the animal or your family. Then, your veterinarian will deliver any preventative medicine that can be done in the office, and prescribe other medications as needed. Traditional heartworm medication you give your dog doesn't actually prevent the bugs from getting into their system.

Did you know?

Heartworm medication does not prevent bugs from getting into dogs.  Traditional heartworm medication kills anything that got to them in the past 30 days, before they get too big. If you miss by even 1 day, some of those parasites can mature to a point where the pills won't get rid of them.

That's a lot of pressure--but now there is a better way. Annual injections are available that prevent heartworm disease in dogs for 1 full year with just 1 shot given.

Our clients come for parasite prevention from the following areas: Ames | Ankeny | Boone | Gilbert | Huxley | Nevada | Roland
