End of Life Care

No matter how much you try to mentally prepare, the end of a pet’s life is an understandably difficult time. Losing a member of your family is hard and making those tough end of life decisions and arrangements are often full of stress and emotion.

Your extended family at PMC of Ames is here to help in any way we can. That includes treatment plans, information, euthanasia, and cremation services.

Cremation Services

Our Clinic supports the care of deceased animals with cremation services. Any animal that passes away at our clinic is cremated if they are not taken home.

We use Pet Cremation of Iowa for cremation services for return-to-owner and non-return ashes. We care deeply for all our animals and clients so we guarantee when you ask for your pets' ashes back, that is what you are getting. Pet Cremation of Iowa performs ONLY private cremation services, even for non-returns.

Return-to-owner ashes are placed in a hand-carved wooden urn (pictured).

Non-return ashes are spread at a Jasper County or Story County farm. Clients do have the option to attend the ash spreading. They do ask this decision be made at the time of euthanasia to ensure the client is contacted for the spreading date.

Patients can be taken home for burial or other cremation services if you wish.

We also offer clay paw print impressions. These include a clay disc with the patient's paw print and their name pressed into the mold. These will be sent home with you at time of euthanasia. They make for great keepsakes of your pet.

If you have any questions about the euthanasia or cremation process please, don't hesitate to ask.

Our clients come from the following areas for pet end of life cares: Ames | Ankeny | Boone | Gilbert | Huxley | Nevada | Roland
